Early Life and Education
Adekola attended St. John’s Primary School and St. Peter’s College in Abeokuta before proceeding to Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. He later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Lagos in 2018.
Acting Career
His passion for acting began early, including performances in church. He formally entered the theatre and movie profession in the 1990s, becoming a member of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners in 1998.
One of the major turning points in his career came through Ishola Durojaiye’s Asiri Gomina Wa, which helped establish him as a recognisable name in Yoruba cinema. Since then, he has built a career spanning acting, directing, producing and scriptwriting.
His film credits include The Vendor, Lakatabu, and Elesin Oba: The King’s Horseman, among numerous other Nigerian productions.
Awards and Recognition
Odunlade Adekola has received major recognition for his acting. He won Best Actor at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2014, and has also received multiple City People Entertainment Awards for Best Actor.
Beyond acting, he has ventured into music and film production, further establishing himself as a versatile figure in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Odunlade Adekola remains one of the recognisable faces of contemporary Yoruba cinema, known for his versatility, expressive performances and long-standing contribution to Nollywood.
